Star Wars in Concert DELIVERED!!!
Out of this world were the show, video effects, and orchestra on stage! The sounds as you entered the theater set the mood, loved leaving the lobby with the display items. The stage heightened the anticipation of the show just enough, being covered.
THX sound effect followed by the 20th Century Fox anthem, and you knew it was ON! Anthony Daniels narration added authenticity to the event, and James Earl Jones as Darth Vader's voice for his introduction was perfect! I would recommend this to ANYONE familiar with the films, as this is really about the music. I hope a new generation of kids will see what it takes to create a score and become involved with supporting the arts.
Very well done merchandise too! Having signature characters like Boba Fett and Vader where the character outlines were created by using musical instruments or notes was very impressive. It branded the event, highlighting why we were all there for the music!
The displays were cool, but if they were authentic, I question. C-3PO looked great, but on closer inspection, he was not real, as his elbows had no joints. However, having characters from the film available for photo ops was great, and YOU DID NOT HAVE TO PAY! That was a nice added value. I am not sure if this will happen in all cities since I am sure these were volunteers from the 501.
I loved the video montages, but I would have liked to see at least one scene all the way through. The promo online uses the Return of the Jedi scene with Luke on the skiff above the Sarlac pit, where it looked like they played out the scene entirely. That was not the case, and at times they mixed old and new footage, which was a distraction. This was very clear in the Death Star scene from Jedi where they dropped the Ewoks and replaced them with the Gungans. Really...do we like Jar Jar and his gang better than Wicket and the Ewoks? Again, that is a VERY picky review from a die-hard Star Wars traditionalist.
Someone who was not a fan had a really great time at the concert and the experience.
